Kelsey Leonardsmith, MD

Personal Profile: Dr. Kelsey first became excited about working with trans and gender-expansive youth as a medical student in Boston. She has worked at many community health centers in St. Paul and is passionate about caring for folks who are not always served well by our healthcare system. Some of her areas of interest are in caring for gender-expansive youth, getting nerdy about hormones, options for non-binary transition, pregnancy care, and sexual health. She loves being outside in all weather, believes in cultural humility, speaks Spanish, and is passionate about using her tools as a physician to work toward a more just world.
Lexy Millett, MSN, CNM
Credentialed specialty: Certified Nurse Midwife
Personal Profile: Lexy is a Certified Nurse Midwife who joined the medical field because she enjoys building long-term relationships with people and partnering with folks to support their health goals. She has worked in both large hospitals and small birth centers, but the community clinic setting is her passion because she believes that every single person deserves high-quality health care. She frames her practice through the lenses of reproductive justice and the dismantling of racism in healthcare, intentionally working to partner with folks who have been ignored by the traditional healthcare system. Outside of work, Lexy enjoys spending time with her partner and kiddos, canoeing, hiking, and eating sweet treats.
Nora Powers, PA-C

Personal Profile: Nora (they/them, she/her) first started with Family Tree as a volunteer and was excited to return as a provider. They are a native of the Twin Cities and have worked in several community clinics in the area. Nora strives to offer healthcare that helps patients live their best, most fulfilled lives. They are deeply committed to bodily autonomy, reproductive access, and understanding gender outside of the cishetnormative binary. Outside of work, they love meeting other people’s pets and cooking delicious food from their unruly garden.
Phyllis Wiener, APRN-WHNP
Credentialed Speciality: Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner
Education: BA from University of MN education and urban studies; RN from Minneapolis Community College, NP certification Planned Parenthood, RNC, NP
Personal Profile: Phyllis Wiener (she/her) has been a nurse practitioner for 30 years. Phyllis started her career at Cedar Riverside People’s Center, and spent 20 years working at Planned Parenthood as both a healthcare provider and educator in the nurse practitioner certification program. In 2012 she joined the team at Family Tree Clinic. At Family Tree Phyllis provides reproductive and gender-affirming care to adolescent and adult patients. As a provider, she partners with patients to focus on their goals and priorities through deep listening, engaged participation and supporting individuals to reach their goals. She is committed to working with patients to decrease barriers, and improve their lives and healing through affirming healthcare practices. Phyllis lives in Minneapolis with her partner Shay, has two adult children and a 2-year-old puppy she loves to take for walks around the lakes.
Olivia Fricke, MSN, CNM

Personal Profile: Olivia (all pronouns) is a Certified Nurse Midwife who practiced at free-standing birth centers before joining the Family Tree Clinic. They are passionate about contributing to healthcare facilities that challenge barriers to people receiving the healthcare they deserve. Their goal is to get to know individuals in order to help them meet their health and wellness goals in authentic and culturally appropriate ways.
Kate Vaske-Wright, APRN, WHNP, Medical Director

Personal Profile: Kate (she/her) has been a Nurse Practitioner for almost 10 years, serving in various clinics specializing in sexual and reproductive health. She was also a nurse for many years prior to becoming a nurse practitioner. Kate has always been passionate about reproductive and sexual health, abortion care, and gender-affirming care. She works hard to ensure all patients feel safe and affirmed in their healthcare journey in a non-judgmental, sex-positive, and trauma-informed approach. Outside of work, Kate enjoys spending time with her husband, two young sons, and their rescue dog Penny!
Camlyn Nowak, APRN CNP

Personal Profile: Camlyn (she/her) became a Women’s Health NP in 2021 after being an Urgent Care Registered Nurse for over 10 years. She is passionate and committed to providing patient-centered, trauma-informed, non-judgmental care that respects all folx in their identities, care needs, and desires, especially in regards to gender affirmation & reproductive health. When not in clinic, Camlyn enjoys knitting, trying out new restaurants & coffee/tea shops with friends, traveling to warmer climates, snuggling her 2 cats, & visiting her brother & sister-in-law in Tennessee.
Erik S. Haugland, MD

Personal Profile: Dr. Haugland (he/him) grew up on a farm in Northwest Iowa and still maintains his roots there by returning to the farm regularly and helping with harvest every fall. He loves most forms of outdoor adventure sports. During the warmer times of the year, he and his husband routinely take off for long motorcycle rides and multi-day motorcycle camping trips. He also loves long distance bicycle camping trips as well and he participates in RAGBRAI, across Iowa, every summer. Dr. Haugland wished to share that he feels that getting to work with gender-diverse people, especially gender-diverse youth, makes him feel very privileged. His passions lie in helping other people to live their most authentic lives and be their true self so getting to actually do that as a career makes him feel that he has one of the best jobs in the world.
