A special program called Parents As Sexuality Educators (P.A.S.E.) can provide Deaf, DeafBlind and Hard of Hearing parents of deaf and/or hearing children and hearing parents of deaf children with information on sexuality education. Educators present information in the form of 2-4 hour workshops. All services (of this department) are free of charge. The Deaf, DeafBlind and Hard of Hearing Health Education Program at Family Tree Clinic is now offering comprehensive childbirth education, in-home parent/child visits and parent education classes for people in the Deaf, DeafBlind and Hard of Hearing community.
Our Childbirth Education Classes are tailored to meet the needs of the DDBHH mother and her chosen companion. We view pregnancy and birth as a normal, natural and joyful event for families. The course will prepare you for birth, it is interactive, personalized and empowering. You will learn about the process of labor and birth, comfort measures and support tools and pain coping techniques. We will also discuss breastfeeding, newborn care and postpartum health. This course will prepare you and your partner or labor companion for labor, birth and beyond! In addition to the childbirth education course, participants will also be provided with postpartum support and follow up, as well as in-home visits.
Our In-home Visits and Parent Education are tailored to each family’s unique needs and include, preparing home for baby, safety and safety device assessment, health and nutrition, infant care, soothing techniques and more. Parenting can be both rewarding and challenging, and the focus of our parenting program is to guide parents to do the best they can for their children from birth to 10 years. Group classes are provided as an interactive way to learn about safety, parenting skills, early childhood development and to learn from one another. If you have questions or would like to sign up for services, please contact Judy Klopp.
